The Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD)

is the national society specifically concerned with the oral health of children in India. It aims to improve oral health in children and encourage the highest standards of clinical care.ISPPD has over 1300 life members from University,  Pediatric Dental Departments, Pediatric Dental Practice and General Dental Practice.



President Message

Dear collegues,

India, with 1.22 billion population and 51 children being added every minute, an estimated of 26 millions of children are born in India. Currently, age group of 0-14 years which is 1/3rd of our present population are included under the care of pediatric dentist .In countries like United States of America, the age limit has been extended up to 18 yrs as suggested by AAPD. Further, Council on Child and Adolescent Health has suggested that the age limit to extend up to 21 years.

We the Paediatric Dentist serve as primary  and specialty care providers for millions of children from infancy through adolescence; provide advanced, specialty-level care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs; and are the primary contributors to professional education programs and scholarly works concerning children’s dental care.

ISPPD is the leader in representing the oral health interests of children. The society shall soon put forward recommendations for recognizing institutions and establishment of centers as there is need to be spread among the community the awareness of services like special child oral health care center, infant oral health care/ well baby oral health centre, Initial caries / high risk caries diagnostic and management centre with the facilities of dietitian, diagnostic monitoring through caries activity investigations.

To develop and recommend oral health policy for infants and children and promote across the country the awareness through media and slogans that ISPPD recommends oral clinical assessment of child from birth.
